Following in the footsteps of his father and older brother, Jon F. Haggerty made the decision to attend law school after completing his bachelor's degree. He was able to finish his bachelor's degree in four years and immediately enter law school, therefore obtaining his judicial degree in another four years.

Upon his graduation from the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis, the firm founders and current partners noticed his audacious talent. Jon was offered a position as partner in the firm and accepted the invitation in 1994.

With the majority of his immediate family having made their careers in the area of law, it was only natural that Jon became romantically involved with someone in the same field. Jon met his future wife Tammi while they both were attending law school. She worked as a paralegal and Jon was a bailiff at the same building. Their courtship lasted through several years and in 2000, the two married in Bloomington, Ind.

The couple immediately started their family and has four children: a nine-year-old son, a six-year-old son and four-year-old twin boys. The family stays active in the community by participating in Cub Scouts and Kiwanis International. Jon enjoys martial arts, swimming and hiking. He hopes to pass these athletic hobbies onto his sons as they get older. Another important pastime that the couple shares and encourages their children to be passionate about is reading. The family promotes academic achievement, hopefully raising the next generation of Haggerty lawyers and ensuring the law practice will go on.

"When you go to law school, you think of legal arguments and testing but when you practice law, you must listen to the problems and help people find a solution," Jon said.
